Paragon ID launches industrialisation project to support the future development of its XgenTag smart label technology
Paragon ID, a global leader in identification and traceability solutions, has launched a project to support the industrialisation of its innovative XgenTag smart label technology in the Occitanie region of France.
XgenTag is a new generation of smart labels that delivers a simple, accessible form of connected traceability. These battery‑free, autonomous labels communicate with any standard smartphone via Bluetooth, removing the need for specialised readers or costly infrastructure. The technology is designed to provide simple and scalable approach to connected traceability for logistics, industrial, healthcare and retail applications.
To support the future development of XgenTag, Paragon ID has secured access to industrial capacity in Occitanie. The project establishes a framework under which production capabilities could be expanded progressively as commercial demand evolves.
In addition to internal resources, the initial phase of the project benefits from support from the Occitanie Region and public funding programmes designed to encourage technological innovation and reindustrialisation. This support covers the initial investment requirements and reduces the financial risk associated with the project. Additional support may also become available as the project progresses.
The industrialisation programme has been designed to remain fully aligned with Paragon ID’s disciplined capital allocation approach does not impact the development of its existing businesses. Future expansion will be implemented in line with commercial demand and defined project milestones.
Paragon ID is targeting an initial industrialisation phase from June 2028, subject to the development of commercial demand and the achievement of project objectives.
This project represents an important step in the development of XgenTag. It provides a pathway to industrialise the technology in France while maintaining a disciplined investment approach.
