A unique expertise in the management of SAMs

The security of a contactless system is based on secret keys that authenticate transactions between the terminals and the cards. These keys are stored in the cards, or tickets, and in Secure Application Modules (SAMs). A SAM is a smartcard that is installed permanently in the equipment, interacting with the cards or tickets.

SAMs contain cryptographic keys that are being generated during Paragon ID key ceremonies and personalised to the terminal function (production, emission, loading or validation etc.) Paragon ID is also the pioneer of SAM issuing in Calypso world, Mifare and other implementations.

Paragon ID provides a comprehensive service for the ticketing systems projects of transport authorities by:

·        Defining the security architecture in accordance with interoperability and specific applications requirements

·        Organising and executing the key generation ceremony

·        Securely storing the master secret keys

·        Ensuring the permanent confidentiality of the keys
