Paragon ID receives certification from DoseID for its RAIN RFID healthcare inlays
Paragon ID leading provider of identification solutions for Traceability, Brand Protection, Transport & Smart Cities, e-ID and Payment, is pleased to announce the certification and launch of two RAIN RFID inlays that have been designed specifically for the healthcare and pharmaceutical sector. Both inlays have been approved by DoseID, the member-driven industry consortium that sets the standards for the use of RFID technology for tracking of pharmaceuticals.
PID Pioneer inlays
The PID Pioneer 26x12 and the PID Pioneer 25x12 inlays have been designed for unit-of-use medications in pharmaceutical and other healthcare applications. Both products are ARC Spec S certified and suitable for tagging a broad range of items including full and empty plastic syringes and vials as well as plastic ampules.
Their very small antenna design coupled with high performance and cost-effectiveness make them ideally suited for a wide range of applications, for example allowing healthcare providers to optimize their inventory processes and track items.
The PID Pioneer inlays feature Impinj M730 tag chip, which are renowned for delivering high performance and advanced features for next-generation RAIN RFID tags, enabling solutions for high-speed inventory counting, loss prevention with frictionless self-checkout, and embedded tagging with seamless product returns.
Bertrand Brault, Marketing Director at Paragon ID comments:
“The pandemic has highlighted the need for healthcare providers to improve processes and efficiencies. Through the use of smart technologies such as RAIN RFID, they can seamlessly track and trace pharmaceutical products on a unit-of-use basis.
We are delighted to have applied our RFID expertise to design these two inlays that conform to DoseID’s high standards and further strengthen our RAIN RFID offering for the healthcare sector as a whole.”
DoseID’s goal is to ensure the quality, performance, and compatibility of RFID tagged drug products as they move through the supply chain from the manufacturer, through the distributor, to the hospital and finally into the patient. The organization’s aim is to establish industry-wide guidelines, building on existing standards from RAIN Alliance, GS1, and others to address the needs of hospitals and healthcare providers.
Tim Kress-Spatz, Co-founder of kitCheck adds:
“For too long, inlay quality and performance has not been suitable for RFID-based hospital workflows involving unit-of-use medication. But we’ve turned a corner with a new lineup of inlays that are up to the task. These PID Pioneer inlays have been designed with the hospital’s demanding use cases in mind, and I’m thrilled to see them available for the industry at large.”
RFID technology helps healthcare providers optimize their inventory processes, locate equipment and patients, expedite care, control temperature and fight against counterfeiting. Paragon ID already works with many clients within the healthcare and pharmaceutical sector supplying RFID-based tags for applications such as brand protection, serialization, and tracking along with RTLS solutions.
A member of RAIN RFID Alliance and GS1, the company is also ARC quality certified confirming its manufacturing expertise, resources, and capabilities covering all the critical aspects of RFID inlay design and production.
Paragon ID will be exhibiting at NRF 2022, Jan 16-18, Javits Center, NYC, USA. Visit booth #6857 to find out more.
